Inspiration
Final piece
Story
The inspiration for this piece came out of a need I had for art to hang in my bedroom. I had a darker beige wall along with an orange “Enjoy Life Daily” pillow. I started with the simplicity of three dark gray lines going vertically and three lines going horizontally. I deeply believe in the power of three. I heard a quote from Nikola Tesla years ago that stated “If you knew the magnificence of three, six and nine, you would have a key to the universe.”
The gray lines were painted with thick strokes with lots of paint. My home was very earthy with warm colors of espresso, muted browns, oranges mixed with cooler colors of blues and greens. I chose to incorporate those colors into this piece. I enjoy mixing many colors together and went over that circle 20-30 times while I was painting. It became a meditation circling back on the shape. It really popped when I completed and became a critical piece of the work. There were a few spots that the dark gray lines were still drying which got incorporated with some of the other paint. As I was completing the piece, I fell in love with it and immediately hung it and when I did…I saw “Go!” I shared with family and friends and my Mom commented that she saw the word “God.” She absolutely LOVED this piece! This piece is not available as a canvas as I surprised my Mom and Dad with it to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary! It is now displayed in their living room. When I was packaging it up to send them…the “Go!” that I saw now transformed into “50!” Because 50 is the golden anniversary. I was excited as the colors were a wonderful complement to the furniture in my parents living room.
Interestingly enough, despite the name of this work, the lines that I started out with DON’T intersect. There is enough intersection of other colors that the name still sticks. Enjoy Intersection!
In joy,
